Greetings!  We are eager to welcome you to the Big Bend when the Marfa congregation will host Presbytery meeting next month.  We hope you will enjoy visiting this beautiful part of the world.  Festivities will begin on Thursday evening, June 22, with a brisket dinner at the Old Spanish Trail Art Gallery [www.oldspanishtrailgallery.com] located in the Davis Mountains at Crows Nest Ranch, located on Rt. 166 one mile west of the historic Bloys Cowboy Camp Meeting grounds, 16 miles west of Rt. 17, the highway connecting Marfa and Fort Davis.  The evening will include an opportunity to tour the gallery and perhaps converse with some of the artists.  In addition, after dinner, we will gather on the porch or around a camp fire to sing together led by country-western musician Jim Hall.

A variety of housing accommodations are possible.  Some RV hook-ups and a few cabins are available at Crows Nest Ranch Campground [https://crowsnestranch.co/] – these can be booked by calling 432.426.3300. In addition, the Riata Inn [www.riatainnmarfa.com] in Marfa has rooms available.  To reserve one of these rooms, it is best to call 432.729.3800.  A word of caution – a big event is scheduled in our community that week.  Consequently, the two largest hotels in our community – the Paisano and the St. George – are already fully booked.  We encourage you to make housing arrangements as soon as possible.  Other lodging options are available in Alpine, just 24 miles east.  Feel free to call me at 575.318.6391 [cell] or 432.364.2433 [landline] for more specific information about lodging in Alpine.

On Friday morning, the Presbytery will meet at the First Presbyterian Church in Marfa, at 110 E. Columbia [the intersection of the Ft. Davis Highway 27 and E. Columbia, just one block north of the Marfa water tower].  Breakfast and morning snacks will be served in the fellowship hall.  A boxed sub sandwich lunch will be available either eat on site or to take with you as you travel.

We look forward to being with you.
